Product Overview

This equipment is designed specifically for trimming and flattening tabs on stacked battery cells after tab welding. The integrated pneumatic mechanism first removes excess stacked tabs and welded tabs, then enables a second workstation to flatten the remaining tabs. By combining two consecutive operations in one compact unit, the system helps standardize tab geometry and supports a more orderly cell fabrication workflow.
Manual loading and unloading give operators direct control over cell positioning, while the cutting and flattening stages are changed manually between operations. The unit is suited to battery research laboratories, pilot-scale cell production, and process-development environments working with cells less than 225 mm wide. Foot-pedal or manual control, automatic counting, and guarded access support practical day-to-day operation.
A rigid aluminum-profile frame, sheet-metal protective doors, linear guide components, dedicated cutting tooling, and industrial pneumatic parts provide a stable foundation for repeated use. Adjustable process conditions allow the cutting and flattening pressure to be matched to the cell process, with a stated working rate of 300–500 cycles per hour depending on process parameters.
Key Features
-
Dedicated Post-Welding Processing: The equipment is purpose-built for cutting excess stacked tabs and welded tabs after tab welding, followed by flattening of the remaining tabs. This focused configuration supports a repeatable sequence for stacked cell fabrication.
-
Integrated Cutting and Flattening Workflow: A pneumatic cylinder drives the upper pressing block and cutting tool downward for trimming. After the work position is moved manually, the remaining tabs can be flattened at the dedicated station.
-
Controlled Pneumatic Force: Cutting pressure and flattening pressure are each rated up to 1000 Kgf. The pneumatic design provides a practical force source for repeated processing while allowing operating conditions to be set according to the cell process.
-
Manual or Foot-Pedal Operation: Operators can control the action manually or with a foot switch. This arrangement keeps both hands available for positioning and handling when the workflow requires close operator attention.
-
Automatic Cycle Counting: An integrated counter records completed operations, giving production and laboratory teams a simple way to monitor output during trials, repeat batches, and routine processing.
-
Guided Mechanical Motion: Linear guide components support the moving assembly, helping maintain stable motion between the upper pressing block, cutting tool, and work position during repeated operation.
-
Protected Working Area: Safety door panels are installed around the equipment perimeter. The enclosure helps separate the operator from the active cutting and pressing area during operation.
-
Compact Laboratory-Scale Capacity: The unit accommodates battery cells less than 225 mm wide and operates from single-phase AC220V power with 100 W rated power. Its approximately 140 kg construction provides a substantial, stable platform for laboratory and pilot workflows.
Applications
| Application | Description | Key Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Stacked Battery Cell Tab Trimming | Removes excess stacked tabs and welded tabs after the cell has been positioned in the work area. | Establishes a cleaner tab profile before the flattening step. |
| Post-Welding Tab Flattening | Flattens the remaining tabs after the operator manually transfers the work position from cutting to flattening. | Helps produce a more uniform tab form for subsequent cell-processing operations. |
| Battery Research and Development | Supports repeated tab processing during cell design studies, process trials, and parameter verification. | Provides controllable manual operation for flexible laboratory experimentation. |
| Pilot-Scale Cell Production | Processes cells in small-batch or pilot workflows with manual loading and unloading. | Balances operator oversight with a stated throughput of 300–500 cycles per hour, depending on process parameters. |
| Tab Process Standardization | Applies the same dedicated cutting and flattening sequence across repeated batches. | Reduces variation caused by inconsistent manual tab preparation. |
| Production Output Monitoring | Uses the integrated automatic counter to record completed actions during trial or routine production. | Gives operators a straightforward reference for batch progress and equipment utilization. |

The working sequence is straightforward. First, the operator places the welded stacked cell into position. When the foot switch or manual control is activated, the pneumatic cylinder moves the upper pressing block and cutting tool downward to remove excess stacked tabs and welded tabs. The operator then moves the work position manually, and the remaining tabs are flattened during the second operation. This arrangement separates the cutting and flattening actions while retaining both functions in a single machine.
The pressure limits provide a clear reference for process setup. Cutting pressure is specified at no more than 1000 Kgf, and flattening pressure is also specified at no more than 1000 Kgf. Actual settings should be selected according to the tab material, cell construction, tooling condition, and validated process requirements. The 15 mm cutting stroke and 200 mm cutting tool length define the principal cutting mechanism available for the stated application.
Compressed-air preparation is an important installation requirement. The equipment requires compressed air of at least 0.6 MPa, while the listed air-source range is 0.5–0.8 MPa. Facility teams should confirm that the available air supply, connections, and pressure regulation are suitable before commissioning. Electrical installation requires single-phase AC220V ±10%, 50 Hz/60 Hz service, 100 W power, and a standard national plug.
The equipment supports cells less than 225 mm wide. Actual performance depends on cell positioning, tab configuration, operator handling, pneumatic conditions, and other process parameters. The reference working speed is 300–500 cycles per hour, so production planning should use the validated rate for the specific cell and operating method rather than treating the upper value as universal.
Why Choose This Product
-
Purpose-Matched Engineering: The cutting and flattening sequence is designed around a specific post-welding stacked-cell operation rather than a general-purpose press, helping align the equipment with practical tab-processing requirements.
-
Stable Mechanical Construction: Aluminum-profile framing, sheet-metal doors, dedicated cutting tooling, and linear guide components create a robust structure for repeated laboratory and pilot-scale use.
-
Integrated Pneumatic and Electrical Controls: The pneumatic cylinder and solenoid valve work with a counter, power switch, emergency-stop button, and manual or foot-pedal controls to provide a complete operating arrangement.
-
Flexible Process Handling: Manual loading, unloading, and station conversion allow operators to adapt the workflow to different validated cell-processing conditions while retaining automatic output counting.
-
Configurable Appearance: The spray-paint color can be customized when the purchaser supplies a color sample, supporting alignment with laboratory, pilot-line, or facility requirements.
